Biography

Julia Willebrand, born in Brooklyn is an anti-war, peace,  environmental, education and Occupy Wall Street (OWS) activist. She currently resides in Manhattan.

Julia has worked with community and environmental groups, served on the Executive Committee of the Sierra Club NYC Group, the Steering Committee of the Citywide Recycling Advisory Board (CRAB), chaired the Manhattan Solid Waste Advisory Board (MSWAB) and the Conservation Committee of the Appalachian Mountain Club.

Julia, a graduate of City College, has a doctorate from Teachers College, Columbia University and has been active in public education as: a public school teacher (PS 84) where she was the UFT delegate, she is the parent of two public school graduates (PS9, IS 44, Music and Art HS), an Adult Education and ESL Specialist for the Welfare Education Program, an adjunct professor at City University, a Program Director at the SUNY Empire State College Labor School and a Fulbright Professor to Hungary.
